Elephant Tusks – Tembe National Elephant Park

Tembe Elephant Park is home to the Big Five, as well as more than 340 bird species and a host of other animals and plants. Its unique sand forest, swamp and savannah eco-system is a timeless world of hot silence and white sand.  Here you will discover the warmest of African welcomes and a unique brand of hospitality.

Tembe is home to some of the biggest living tuskers.

Day 1

Meet and greet at Richards bay or booked transfer point by one of our guides. We travel north to Tembe Elephant Park, home to some of the largest tuskers in Southern Africa.

After approximately 3 hours of travelling we reach the gates. Tembe is still a wilderness park and can only be accessed with a 4×4 vehicle.  Tembe lodge welcomes us, with a welcome song, sung by their staff.  You can feel the spirit of Africa in the air. Lunch is served at 13h00 then relax before we set out on a game drive.

15h00 – We set off on Sunset game drive, in search of our largest land mammal and a sun downer out in wilderness.

19h00 – We return from the game drive and enjoy a drink around the campfire before supper is served. African cuisine served in traditional Zulu culture.

Day 2

06h00 – Wakeup call at your chalet by one of the staff members.

06h15 – A cold breakfast before we set of on the morning game drive.

Somewhere in the open Savannah  coffee and rusks are served, standing around in the open makes you wonder if you’re being watched from the bush around.  Every open game drive in this park is different, but always packed with adventure and Mother Nature’s best.

10h00 – Return to the lodge in time for a cooked breakfast.

Lunch served at 14.00

Then at 15.00 we set out on another open vehicle game drive, exploring another portion of the park, and tracking one of the giants again, Tembe boasts with some magnificent tusked elephants but it is a big 5 reserve and you never know what will show up around the next bend in the sandy roads.

Supper at 19.00 Under the African Skies, bush babies always pay us a visit at supper time singing their song from up in the trees into the African skies.

Day 3

6.00 – Wake up call

6.15 – Quick breakfast just to fill that empty spot before we set of on the morning game drive.

Another moment in Mother Nature and another moment to experience the rhythm of Africa.

10.00 – Return to the lodge in time for that delicious breakfast. Talking about the events of the last few days, the elephant that came too close or the adrenaline when we tracked the lions, Tembe always leaves a story in the soul.

As always all good things must come to an end, but the flame of Tembe will burn high in our spirits.
